Concrete Tradesman Sunshine Coast

Concrete Tradesman Sunshine Coast, Chevallum, Palmwoods, Woombye

Concrete TradesWhen you buy a new home, you want to be sure that you are getting exactly what you paid for, which is why a home inspection is a part of every single sale. You certainly cannot afford to have the pros come in with every single house that takes your fancy during your search, which is why it’s a good idea to perform an inspection of your own. You are still going to have to get a professional inspection done, and may even have to call in a concrete tradesman or concrete contractor if you find issues, but you can at least get a basic idea of the house, which in turn lets you see its real value.

If you are going to perform your own home inspection, there are three specific areas that you should tackle, and it all begins with the exterior of the home. If there are major issues out there, you can almost bet that there are going to be problems once you set foot through the front door. The most obvious things to look for are issues with the paint, missing tiles on the roof, problems with the chimney, damage to the windows, and cracks or damage to the foundation, which could mean that a rather hefty concrete job bill could be coming your way if you buy the home as is.

Once you have identified any exterior issues, or are happy with what you see, it’s time to take a look at the interior of the home. Be sure to take a flashlight with you for this part of the inspection, as many of the problem areas tend to be in spots that are tough to see, including up in the attic and down in the basement. Be on the lookout for obvious signs of wear and tear, such as issues with paint, and cracks in the walls, as well as potential problem areas, such as water stains that may indicate a bigger problem.
The final leg of your inspection should be to check all of the major systems in the home. Turn on the heating and the air conditioning to make sure that both are working, and also check the hot and cold water to make sure that there are no issues there. Give all of the actual systems a look over to see if there are signs of wear and tear. An older heating or cooling unit may well be one that is ready to fail, so be sure to keep that in mind. Check for stains on the concrete.

In Chevallum, Palmwoods, Woombye, and other areas of the Sunshine Coast, ensure you employ an experienced Concrete Tradesman for peace of mind. It is usually the law that a home inspection has to be performed before the sale goes through. That means that you will have to get a professional home inspection, but you can find out all of the potential problem areas with any home by just knowing what to look for yourself.

Concrete Tradesman Sunshine Coast, Little Mountain, Kawana

Kawana Sunshine CoastWhen you do business in Australia, you expect that your competition will play by the rules set out by the government, but that’s not how things always go down. There are companies out there who are willing to flaunt those rules in order to get a competitive edge. It’s an unfair, not to mention illegal, practice that some are willing to try. The good news is that when they get caught, the penalties can often be severe. One of the more recent instances took place in the concrete industry, and it all went down with Concrete Tradesman on the Sunshine Coast.

A total of 4 companies were found to be in violation of the Trade Practices Act 1974, with the breaches all taking place between 2002 and 2006. It was believed that the 4 companies in question entered into an agreement with a number of different power stations in order to secure a product known as flyash. The reason why this material is so in demand by concrete companies is because it can easily be used as a cheap alternative to cement when making concrete. To say that it would give tradesmen in Little Mountain, Kawana, and beyond a competitive edge is putting things rather mildly.

Little Mountain Sunshine CoastIt was the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) way back in 2008, which gives you an example of how slowly things can move when it comes to the government. The ACCC believed that a fine in the region of $90 million would have delivered a real message to these companies, as well as to any others looking to skirt the rules. The fact that the federal government only levied fines totaling $18.2 million is a little disappointing, as the ACCC looks at that amount as little more than the cost of doing business.

While it may seem as though just 4 companies being caught in the wrong seems relatively small, the fact is that the impact of their dealings can be very far reaching indeed. The Australian economy thrives on competition, and when you have 4 companies taking up a large portion of the concrete business in a specific area, you run the risk of other companies simply being unable to compete, largely due to the pricing of contracts which end up being driven by the companies in control. That makes things very difficult for all of the companies trying to do things the right way.

While the financial hit taken by the 4 companies – Cement Australia Pty Ltd, Cement Australia Queensland Pty Ltd, Pozzolanic Enterprises Pty Ltd, and Pozzolanic Industries Pty Ltd – they may all encounter another problem. While potential customers want a good price, they also want to work with companies that they can trust. By their own actions, these 4 companies have put a mark on themselves that all potential customers are going to see. That could prove to be good news for the concrete companies and tradesmen who are doing things the right way.

Concrete Contractors Sunshine Coast

You tend to think of construction guys as big, hard working men with a gruff exterior and a roughness around the edges. It’s a persona that has been developed over the years, but it may not be one that is entirely accurate. After all, the men and women who work in the construction industry work hard to ensure that everything they touch turns into quality work that is safe for everyone who will use it in the future. That suggests a kind heart, but there are also some personal acts of kindness that help sweep away those preconceived notions of the construction industry.

concrete patiosOne particularly great story recently took place in Eudlo in the Sunshine Coast region, where the foreman of a construction company decided to help out a group of Buddhist nuns. Blase Townsing, a former Brisbane resident, moved to the Sunshine Coast just three years ago, but it’s obvious that the kind nature of the residents there very quickly rubbed off on him. Townsing has been a practicing Buddhist for a number of years, and when he moved to his new home, he wanted to find a place where he could further explore his spirituality. He found that at the Chenrezig Buddhist Institute, where he has spent a lot of time volunteering in a number of different areas.

He learned that the members of the institute were looking for concrete contractors who could create a nice concrete path from the nun’s residence to the new laundry room. Townsing knew that this was an area that he was skilled in, so he rounded up 5 other volunteers, all of whom agreed to give freely of their time to ensure that the job was done just right. This is very much a work in progress, though, as there is a lot that has to be done to complete the project.

Many of the nuns who live at the institute are getting up there in years, and a few even use wheelchairs to get around. Rather than just having to create a simple path, Townsing and his volunteers will also be creating wheelchair and pram ramps in a number of important access points. It’s a daunting job, but a number of local concrete contractors have offered their help, and the hope is that the whole project will be completed in a couple of months. The joy and happiness that is all around at the institute is infectious, and the people who have so kindly given of their time can’t help but work with a smile on their faces when they work on the project on weekends.

It would appear that Mr. Townsing and all the kind people who have helped, and who will be helping, create this wonderful project may well have destroyed the image of the humble construction worker. It has to be said that we like this new image a whole lot better.
